Couples

Many couples are looking to take their marriage to a new level.  Perhaps you love each other, and you're great at paying the bills, taking care of the kids, and visiting the inlaws.  But you have a suspicion (and hope) that more is possible.

What is missing is true intimacy. This intimacy is a connection of pure love. No games, or knee-jerk reactions or bottled up frustrations - just simple love.

When we have this, everything changes. We can still disagree about things, but nothing is ever personal. We communicate easily and always. We can still have strong feelings about things, but our partner doesn't "pay" for it. We learn how to communicate our feelings in natural and easy ways.

Our marriage becomes a place of warmth and safety.

Counselling helps to:

  • identify the mutual goals of your relationship
  • have true and long-lasting intimacy
  • understand what's really happening and what to do when there's conflict
  • learn how to communicate honestly and easily
  • how to make your marriage your sanctuary

It's not always about fixing what's wrong. It is also about trying a new way of living together - a new stage of growth in your marriage.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.
