Optimal Health
What interests me most about optimal health is the fact that most people actually have no desire in ever achieving it. We don't believe that it's possible. And we don't really believe that it is worth the effort in striving for it.
For some reason, our bar for acceptable health is phenomenally low. Essentially, most of us are happy as long as we are not in pain. Any life without pain is just fine.
We might be overtired, have high blood pressure, be overweight, not sleep well, have chronic pain in their bodies, and be relatively unhappy with our lives. But do we do anything about it? No.
Why not?
Reason #1: We don't really believe that it is normal to be healthy.
Somewhere along the line,we learned that having some illness is normal – that nobody is actually completely healthy – everybody has some
thing. We believe that taking pills to fix these problems makes everything OK – that we have handled the problem... strange.

Reason #2: We've always felt like this.
Most of us have spent most of our adult lives feeling some level of crappy. Maybe we're always eating junk, so our bodies always feel sluggish and bloated. Maybe we've been relatively inactive, so our bodies are always a little soft, a little weak, a little tired. Maybe we've always had anxious and depressed thoughts. Maybe our parents also had anxious and depressive thoughts. So we just assume that the home that we grew up in was normal... So anxious and depressive thoughts are normal.

We don't know what it feels like to FEEL GREAT!!
If we knew what it felt like to feel great, then we would want to keep that feeling! We would want to have all kinds of energy all of the time. We would wake up excited for our day EVERY day. Our bodies would feel strong and fit all of the time because we enjoyed moving – dancing, running, cycling, walking, whatever – every day!!

So what do we do?
The Challenge:
What if we treated ourselves well for a while – say 4 months. What if we ate food that our bodies called for? What if we only ate when we were hungry? What if we actually got active and started feeling better? What if we took time off to relax, read a book, or take a long bath? What if we got off the stimulants and just gave our bodies a chance to heal, regenerate, and grow stronger?
What if we made a plan of Extreme Self Care for 4 months, saw how we felt after 4 months and then reassessed?
I think it's a worthy challenge.
I think that optimal health is not only possible and within reach, I think it is exactly how we are supposed to be. I believe that it is our normal and our lives are phenomenally easier when we are there.
